Super Savings Saturday 10/30

Here's the week's shopping breakdown. It was a busy week of shopping! Now I can take a break for a week or two...

Last weekend in La Crosse
Walmart
(2) Minute Maid orange juice concentrate $1.48 each
(1) Morton canning salt (4 lbs.) $1.14 (I am going to use this to make my own saline solution for nasal irrigation = a cheap alternative to having surgery to straighten my nose!)

Because I purchased six boxes of General Mills cereal, I received four separate checkout values coupons: 1 FREE dozen eggs, 1 FREE gallon of milk, 1 FREE box Toaster Strudels and 4 FREE Yoplait yogurt cups. Since I don't grocery shop very often, I turned around and did a second transaction right away to use these coupons.

Transaction #2
(4) Yoplait yogurt cups FREE (checkout values coupon)
(1) dozen eggs FREE (checkout values coupon)
(1) gallon of milk FREE (checkout values coupon)
(1) box Toaster Strudels FREE (checkout values coupon)
Ground chuck (6 lbs.) $10.48 (on sale for $1.99/lb.; used [2] $0.50/1 ground beef printable coupons, both of which doubled)
Chicken thighs (4+ lbs.) $3.95 (on sale for $0.88/lb.)
(1) Roundy's hamburger buns FREE with purchase of ground chuck
Total: $11.92
Something strange happened with my "checkout values" coupons. It looks like the cashier took off the maximum value for each coupon, not what I actually should have paid. I should have gotten $7.34 off; instead, she took off $9.85. I'm not complaining, though - it certainly helped stretch my grocery budget this week!

Aldi
(2) crushed tomatoes, 28 oz. $0.89 each (for my homemade pizza sauce)
(1) Russet potatoes, 10 lbs. $1.99
(2) margarine quarters $0.59 each

(1) flour tortillas $2.09
Total: $9.22

Total spending for Madison shopping: $56.92

Total spending for La Crosse shopping: $8.95

Total for the week: $65.87
I had $64.62 left to spend this week on all grocery and household item purchases. I'd say I did pretty good!
