The long-awaited baby update!

About 3 weeks old!
After taking a few weeks off from blogging (and honestly, from "normal" life in general!), I am slowly getting back into blogging. The reason for my break?

See the picture above of the adorable baby!

Hannah Joy was born on February 19, 2013. She was (and still is) a little peanut (about 6.5 pounds at birth!), but she's growing quite a bit now. She is a great baby - very content, a good eater, and a good sleeper (nearly all the time).

Thanks for your patience and understanding as I adjust to motherhood!

Upcoming changes at Our Frugal Happy Life

How do you feel about change? Do you totally embrace it? Or do you completely reject it? Perhaps you are somewhere in between, like me. Sometimes, I don't want to change - because it hurts. Sometimes, I am so pumped for change that I surprise even myself! But, most of the time, I stay in the middle - because that's where I am most comfortable.

Recently, God has made it clear to me that I need to reevaluate Our Frugal Happy Life and the time & effort I put into this blog. I thoroughly enjoy blogging and certainly don't plan to give it up any time soon.

However, our life is changing on a few fronts (out of my comfort zone!) and this necessitates a change for the blog. One task that involves quite a bit of my time is the grocery story weekly ad match-ups for Burnstad's, Aldi, Grocery Depot, Copps and Festival. At this point, I am no longer going to do full match-ups for these stores. Instead, I will highlight the top two or three deals in each of these categories for each store's ad:
  • Fresh produce
  • Meat
  • Dairy
  • Frozen
  • Pantry
  • Household
  • Health and Beauty
  • Miscellaneous
Much of the rest of the blog will remain the same, at this time. I will continue to post freebies and online deals, as well as plenty of posts about goal-setting, intentional living, reading and DIY projects.

Setting yearly goals, monthly goals, weekly goals, and then utilizing my daily planner has opened my eyes to how important it is to be intentional. Since the start of 2012, I have already noticed how I can be much more productive - when I stick to my goals! This process is how I have come to the realization that some things must go.

2011 Wrap-up for Our Frugal Happy Life

I started Our Frugal Happy Life in September 2010 shortly after we moved to Wisconsin. My goal was (and is) to blog about living frugally, especially on a gluten free diet.

As we begin a new year, let's look back at the past 15 months here at Our Frugal Happy Life. These have been the five most popular posts during that time:
  1. Respect the Roll: Free toilet paper roll cover - 3,397 views
  2. Cheesebuger Soup recipe - 1,281 views
  3. Chicken Enchilada Dip recipe - 917 views
  4. Homemade Spanish Rice recipe - 722 views
  5. Kraft First Taste: Philadephia Cooking Creme offer - 399 views
It strikes me as hilarious that the most popular post overall is about a toilet paper roll cover. Seriously?! That post triggered a lot of hits from Google during the time that the commercial was airing on TV, I think.

Three of the most popular posts were recipes, which I think is great. I love posting my recipes and I plan to do more of that in 2012. I have been learning so much about cooking and baking gluten free and, although I'm certainly no expert, I like to share my creations with you!

Over the past 15 months, I have had over 78,000 page views overall! My goal has never been to have the most popular blog on the web, but I'm excited to see that at least a few people read my blog. ;)

In my own life, I have been focusing more on living intentionally - with weekly goals, a daily to-do list in my planner, etc. I am working to make that focus on intentional living spill over onto the blog as well. Look for more information this week on that!

Thank you for reading Our Frugal Happy Life! Thanks for a fantastic 2011!
