Homemade Gluten-Free Taco Seasoning

Because some taco seasoning packets can contain gluten, I recently decided to find a way to make my own. Turns out, it's actually really easy - and really tasty! It's also pretty frugal since you likely have all the spices you need at home already. I used the recipe found here.

I followed the recipe as you'll find it on the link, except I added a bit of cumin to it.

Homemade Taco Seasoning

Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
2 T dried onion flakes (or one fresh, medium onion, chopped)
1 1/2 t. chili powder (or more)
1 t. basil
1 t. oregano
1 t. garlic powder (not salt!)
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. pepper
3/4 c. water
Cumin, if desired

Directions:
1. Saute meat (with fresh onion, if using) and drain.
2. Add all spices and water.
3. Cover and simmer on low for 10-15 minutes.

And there it is - homemade, tasty taco seasoning!
