Menu Plan 9/5 - 9/11/10

Here's our menu plan for this week. My in-laws will be here until sometime on Monday. We're leaving Monday open since it's Labor Day and we will probably just grill something and relax, since my husband is off work.

Side note: I plan a menu for one month at a time. At the beginning of each month, I make a calendar and plan every meal. It makes my life so much easier during the month! I can also see quickly if I need to pick up any "special" ingredients (although I'm pretty simple!). For September, the only out-of-the-ordinary ingredient (i.e., I'm out!) is chicken broth. Lucky for me, Dollar General has a great everyday price! I'd encourage you to try menu planning - whether it's one week or one month at a time - do whatever works best for you and your family!

Sunday: Savory Beef Roast, baked potatoes and vegetables (feeding the in-laws too!)

Monday: open for Labor Day Skillet Tacos with Homemade Taco Sauce.

Tuesday: Crunchy Chicken with Mission Chips (found on a bag of Mission chips)

Wednesday: I'll be in Madison for work orientation. Mike will probably either have leftovers or eat out after Confirmation class.

Thursday: I'll be getting home around dinnertime from Madison, so we're going to grab something in town, since we have a meeting at church at 6:30.

Friday: Grilled pork, potatoes, vegetable.

Saturday: Steak, baked potatoes, vegetable. Maybe my husband will cook my birthday dinner a few days late?? :) If I don't make it to the grocery store for steak, we'll have brats instead.

For breakfast, we each grab what we want: waffles, muffins, pancakes, cold cereal, yogurt, etc.

For lunch, I usually eat leftovers. Every once in a while, I allow myself a grilled cheese sandwich with Udi's bread, but that is a special treat! My husband eats a sandwich or leftovers - he takes his lunch to work 2-3 days a week and comes home 1-2 times a week, depending on his schedule. Occasionally, I take lunch to church and we eat there together.

  1. I've rediscovered Big Lots for stocking the pantry. It's also fun to go with my husband and see what great buys we can find.

I hope you have a relaxing Labor Day.
