My Trip to Copps today

I had some coupons set to expire soon and I wanted to take advantage of the General Mills cereal deal at Copps this week (the sale ends today). They haven't been offering this deal very often lately, so I bit the bullet and went today in the rain. Boy, am I glad I did! It was an awesome trip for me - I totally impressed myself! :) Today is double coupon day, so I did two transactions in order to maximize my savings.

Transaction #1

Copps requires a minimum of $25 before coupons in order to take of advantage of the double coupons, so with that in mind, here's what I did for my first transaction:
  • One tub of Cottonelle Fresh wipes, $2.49
  • One 3 lb. bag of red potatoes, $1.99
  • Six boxes of Chex cereal - at a regular price of $3.65 each.
That's a sub total of $26.38. Then I had the following discounts:
  • $9 came off automatically as part of cereal deal (wyb 6 boxes).
  • $2.49 came off with my coupon for FREE Cottonelle wipes.
  • $9.35 came off with Chex cereal coupons. I had (6) $.85/1 Chex cereal coupons (from Psst), but only five of them doubled, according to the Double Daze rules.
For everything in the picture above, I paid $5.68 out of pocket! Even the cashier was impressed. As part of the GM cereal deal, I also received two coupons at checkout: one for a FREE gallon of milk and one for a FREE dozen eggs.

Transaction #2
My second transaction was a little more complicated and I spent a little more out of pocket for this one. Here's the details on this one:
  • Two boxes of Frosted Mini Wheats with Fruit, at a regular price of $2.99 each.
  • One tube of Crest with Scope toothpaste, on sale for $2.50.
  • Three green bell peppers, at $.88/lb., for a total of $1.28.
  • One 8 oz. package of Kraft with Philly shredded cheese, on sale for $2.50.
  • One dozen XL eggs, at a regular price of $1.25.
  • One gallon Roundy's milk, at a regular price of $3.09.
  • One pail of Kemps ice cream, on sale for $5.99.
  • One package of Glad Cling wrap (300 sq. ft.), on sale for $2.50.
  • One box of Glad freezer bags (30 ct.), on sale for $2.50.
The sub total for everything above was $27.59. Then I had the following discounts:
  • $3.75 (full value) came off with my coupon for free milk (from Transaction #1).
  • $1.50 (full value) came off with my coupon for free eggs (also from Transaction #1).
  • $2.99 came off with a B1G1 free Mini Wheats coupon (from Vocalpoint).
  • $2 came off with a $1/1 Mini Wheats coupon, which doubled (also from Vocalpoint).
  • $1.50 came off with a $.75/1 Crest coupon, which doubled.
  • $2 came off with a $1/1 Kraft with Philly coupon, which doubled (from Kraft First Taste).
  • $2 came off with a $1/2 Glad coupon (from 5/22 SS), which doubled.
That's a total of $15.74 in discounts! I paid $12.01 out of pocket for my second transaction.

In all, I spent just $17.69 at Copps today and got everything that you see in my two pictures above!

My shopping trips are usually much simpler (as you have seen on Super Savings Saturday posts), but I wanted to outline this trip so it is explained thoroughly for you. Hopefully this provides some inspiration and encouragement - saving money is not tough work!
