I personally prefer the pacs or tabs as opposed to powder or liquid detergent. It tends to work better, in my experience. I usually try to pay more like $0.14 per tab, but I haven't seen any great deals in the stores in months. If you order them on Amazon, they'll be shipped straight to your door!
