Super Savings Saturday

Since we went overbudget last week, we had about $10 to spend this week. Since we didn't need anything, I took the opportunity to stock up a little bit.

Dollar General
(4) Pepsi 2 liters $2.00 (on sale for $1.00 each, used [2] $1/2 coupons.)
(1) Ziploc Quart size Freezer bags $1.50 (on sale for $2.00, used $1/2 coupon.)
(1) Ziploc Gallon size Freezer bags $1.50 (on sale for $2.00, used $1/2 coupon.)

Total: $5.44

Festival
(1) Cracked Wheat bread, $1.88
(1) Frozen broccoli, $0.68 (used in-ad coupon)
(1) Old El Paso corn taco shells $0.88 (used in-ad coupon)
(1) tomato sauce $0.50 (dented, reduced)
(1) can mushrooms $0.39 (dented, reduced)

Total: $4.33

Walgreens
(1) Hydrogen peroxide $0.33 (used in-ad coupon)
(3) Royal gelatin $0.60 (used in-ad coupon)
(1) Advil Cold & Sinus (husband came down with a cold...) $7.49

Total: $8.92

Total spending for this week: $20.53
Had it not been for the Advil, we would have come in just under $10.00, which was my goal for this week. We don't keep much cold medicine on hand since we don't get sick very often, so I'm not worried about buying it occasionally. Because of the Advil and Groupon, I'll start next week with $19.47 to spend. That should be more than enough - it will probably allow for more stockpiling!

Groupon
I purchased the $20 soap.com voucher for $10 through Groupon on Wednesday. I am planning to put this in next week's spending, as we still won't need any grocery or health & beauty items. I bought 3 Listerine and Head & Shoulders shampoo with my Groupon voucher, since those are two items which are difficult to get at a reasonable price, especially around here!

Total: $11.84

Amazon.com
I finally purchased a wedge pillow for myself on Amazon. It was $27.95 and I had redeemed $20 worth of gift certificates from Swagbucks. With my free Prime shipping through Amazon Student (I am still a graduate student...), I had free 2-day shipping. I have horrible allergies and frequent sinus infections, and after my last infection, my husband and I decided that I needed some help. In the end, I paid $7.95 - far cheaper than it would be in the store -- and they shipped it straight to my house! I can smell relief... :)

Festival
We found out on Wednesday that we need to bring several food items to our PALS retreat on Sunday. With such late notice, I had no choice but to buy what was necessary at Festival on Thursday (not super happy about this!). Our church actually covers the cost of this retreat for us, so we may get reimbursed. Even if we don't, I am not counting this money in our weekly spending.

(3) Cereal - Golden Grahams, Cheerios & Honey Nut Chex $5.00 (on sale for $2.00/each, use $1/3 coupon)
Russet potatoes (5 lb. bag) $0.98

Total: $5.98
